Trouble Removing Static DNS Entries
Hi,
I have an older AD environment that is absolutely full of Static DNS records that I need to either make dynamic or delete. I'm going into the records I want altered and clicking the box to say "Delete This Record if it becomes stale". I then hit apply. I see the timestamp box get populated, and hit OK. The list however, still lists this server as Static. I go back into the properties of the record and see the box is still checked and the timestamp is still present. I then go back to the list and refresh. The entry still shows as static, and when I then go to the properties of the record, the timestamp and checkmark are gone. I've done this normally, and from a "Run as Administrator" DNS console.
Does anyone have an idea why it is not respecting my setting changes? I've heard about doing the /ageallrecords (or whatever) prompt, but I have valid static entries that need to be preserved and cannot use that nuclear option.
