I checked all 4 forums under SQL Server and I see 0 posts. However, I think I saw a thread somehow where I saw Uri has an answer. How come I don't see any questions in relation to SQL Server?

I have been using this forum from it's beginning and haven't see many questions on SQL Server. There are many questions posted but they are mostly on Azure SQL Database.

Users who posted questions on on-premise SQL server, they were redirected to MSDN forum as this forum was just supporting questions only on Azure SQL back then.

I haven't seen Uri, Erland and other experts here yet. Uri is here but not so active. You can see his threads in below

    Hi NaomiNNN,

    > How come I don't see any questions in relation to SQL Server?

It is the first day that SQL Server related forums migrated to Microsoft Q&A, your thread is the first thread on SQL General Forum on Q & A. Migration requires a process.

    Best regards,
    Cathy

I recently came to this forum Naomi and I also see this QA forum is little confusing in terms of what questions comes where. It is all mixed up. I still spend lot of time on MSDN forum but I believe it would be retiring after 31st August. This will only serve as QA forum and there would be no MSDN forum. It would take users sometime to get accustomed to this then we may get lot of questions.

This is really only a test post. An attempt to post an answer failed. Just wanted to see if it is a general thing.

Welcome to the QnA @Shanky621 and @ErlandSommarskog-8620, and all the (new) veteran supporters from the MSDN 19200-image.png

I am here for very long time before the first line of code was written and will be happy to give some tips.

First of all I want to remind the MVPs that there is a close channel as well where you can get more internal information.

Secondly, I must agree that being here does not mean that I like this interface more than the MSDN forums. There is a lot more to do in order to fix bugs and improve the interface, in order to make it user friendly and usable. We work with what we get and do the best we can.

Tip! using a friendly userName: The forum interface creat for you user name automatically based on the information you used during the registration. This name include a random number. For example Erland got the user name "ErlandSommarskog-8620".

Go to your profile page -> click on setting -> and change the user name to anything you want. Remove the number for example so it will be clean name like "ErlandSommarskog" for example.

Issue: There is no option to follow your threads if these where updated (if someone respond to your message) unless you configure emails. There is no option like in the MSDN to filter only threads where you participated and sort this by the updated time. I am sure that you will find that this is a huge issue. I don't have solution for this. You can follow your thread from the activities in your profile but you will not be bale to know which thread got respond.

Issue: Failing in sending messages/responds. This is a known issue. Make sure that you copy each content before you post the message! Otherwise you will lose what you wrote if it will be failed to submit.

Moderator privileges: I hope that very soon all the active moderators from the MSDN forums who are not MVP will also get a moderators privilege. All the MVPs can already become moderators (contact Sandra for more details)

Tip! I developed a basic extension to the QnA system. It is pure simple JavaScript code for Tampermonkey. The extension will make you life simpler as it take the QnA forum and make it more like the MSDN forums (including for example displaying of entire threads in the main page, clean template, simple way to navigate to specific form (tag), advance search to navigate to specific list of forums (list of tags) and more. It is only the basic at this time. I recommend to download and use it. You can improve it and join the project or send me your feedback. It is simple open source public GitHub project.

Tip! Adding icons is done simply by adding images. Click on the 19222-image.png. This will open small windows with list of icons. click the icons you want to add -> close the windows. Take a screenshot of the icon. And use Ctrl+V to insert the copied image directly to the editor 19219-image.png
