SharePoint Online - Drag and Drop Files Between SharePoint Libraries

Question

This may be a dumb question, but is it not possible to drag and drop files between SharePoint libraries?

I can drag and drop files from my computer file explorer to a library to add them, but when trying to drag a file from a modern experience library to another modern library, the cursor changes to a "+ " like it is going to add the file, but then nothing happens.

I've tried clicking and dragging from the file name, the icon itself, where I drop the file, and even trying to drop into a folder in the other library, but nothing happens.
With some testing, in Classic experience, it's possible to drag and drop a file to another library's sub-folder, but not into the parent-folder/library itself. So it appears that Classic has a bit of this functionality but not exactly how I would like it.
I also need to use Modern experience which this doesn't appear to work for.

Am I missing some kind of library setting to allow this?
I am a SharePoint Administrator in the tenant with Full Control access to everything, so I don't believe that permissions are the issue, just that the functionality doesn't exist.
There wasn't really anything that I could find online in regards to a definitive answer for this, so I thought I would ask here.

I'm currently just working around this by pre-copying a sub-folder with all template documents needed, so it's not the end of the world.

It's by design that dragging and dropping files between SharePoint modern libraries is not available.

As a workaround, you could use Copy to or Move to function to manage files between SharePoint modern libraries.
