Scenario

  • Working remotely from home on a CORE i5 vPRO 10th gen / 8 GB RAM laptop
  • Participate in Teams video meeting, sometimes presenting
  • Open a OneDrive/SharePoint stored document in classic MS Word desktop app
  • MS Word crashes during automatic save, leaving Exception code 0x230c51d9 in the Event log

With Teams, Edge, Outlook and Word running, the RAM consumption is 85-90% on the laptop.
Other MS Office applications (Excel & PowerPoint) with autosave to OneDrive enabled, does not experience the same crash problem.

    Hi @ErlingR ,
    Welcome to Q&A forum!

Since we are focused on general issus about Office desktop apps, I will analyze this issue from the perspective of Word client. Thanks for your understanding.
In addition, since the Q&A forum suggests that a thread is only for one topic, if you still need help from Teams or Outlook, it is recommended that you post question separately for more professional help. Thanks.

Please check and confirm the following information with us before troubleshooting this issue.

    • Are you using Microsoft 365 Apps? Please go to File>Account in Word app to check and share the detailed version with us.
    • When did this issue start? Have you installed any third-party Add-ins for Word before this?
    • Does Word have this issue when not in a Teams meeting?

Please check and try the following steps.

    1. Go to C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates folder, find and rename Normal.dotm to oldNormal.dotm. It is a template file of Word, when Word is opened again, a new one will be automatically generated.
    2. Try to switch to other browsers or reset the Edge.
    3. If the above does not work, please try to repair your Office.

Any updates, please let me know.
