BGINFO not recognizing any information I set

I am trying to set Image date on bginfo, we have imaged machines.
Under 'Custom' in BGINFO I have 'registry value
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment\image_date
It does not show up on my imaged machine. Doesn't even create the registry key
BGInfo is the latest version
Windows 10 v1909 Enterprise
Can anyone help me.
