FSLogix Profile - Start Menu refresh following AppX uninstalls

Morning,

We are running an Azure Virtual Desktop environment and having some challenges with FSLogix Profiles.

We are using AppX to un-install some of the Windows Store Apps (Mail, Xbox, Games, etc). When logging onto the Desktop following the scripted uninstall the app icons are still present in the Start Menu (nothing happens when you click on the icons). Is there a workaround/permanent fix to ensure the Start Menu updates without having to remove the user's FSLogix profile?

Thanks

    Hi there,

The best way to fix this is to open File Explorer and navigate to:

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

This folder is a "hidden" folder, however, you can simply copy and paste the path name above into the Windows Search box and press enter.

Look for the program(s) icons that you uninstalled and delete the remaining icons from this folder. Do not delete icons for programs that are still valid and installed.

Once you have removed the proper icons, you can then click the start menu again (it may take a second or five to refresh) now the uninstalled app icon should no longer show in the programs list.

    Hi LimitlessTech,

We did look at this workaround but, however the approach we are taking is currently all automated, image deployment from Azure, scripted app installs, optimisations, etc.

We are still exploring if there is an FSLogix configuration / registry change that can be implemented to refresh the start menu content following the uninstalls.

    Thanks
