Exclude Suggested sites from News in SharePoint 2019

Question

Is there a way to exclude Suggested sites from "News from Sites" on the SharePoint start page? Our intranet home page gets lots of traffic and it would be nice to give users the option to stop following the home page and then tailor their News on Sites to sites that they are most interested in.

Microsoft's information on SharePoint start states "A News section that shows recent news from the sites you’re following and from sites suggested to you based on activity. Click See all to see a list of the latest articles."

According to my research, I found a similar feature in SharePoint in Microsoft 365 that can disable SharePoint page recommendations. However, it should be noted that this feature is still in the early release stage and has not yet been fully deployed.

Similarly, I did not find a description of similar related feature for SharePoint Server 2019 in the official Microsoft information.
