Hello @killaxia , Thank you for reaching out. If I have understood the question correctly, you have a virtual machine on Azure, and you are facing a DNS name resolution error for all URLs from your machine.
If my understanding is correct can you please try some troubleshooting steps as mentioned below and see if they can help in resolving the error.

    1. Can you please validate the DNS Server configuration for your VM? In the resource group which contains the VM, click on the Network Interface resource used by your VM and then click on the DNS server option as shown below. Then check if you have a DNS server configured it can either be a DNS server inherited from a virtual network or a Custom DNS server.

    2. As DNS communicates using UDP and TCP Port 53. Can you please check if your Network Security Group is blocking any DNS communication? From Azure Portal, you can open the Networking option on your VM resource and check it as shown below.

If this does not help in resolving this issue can you please provide more information regarding your setup which can help us to better troubleshoot this issue? Thank you!

You also get this error if you try to ping a hostname that can't be resolved due it just being invalid! e.g if you have some vm's on the vnet with hostnames vm-1, vm-2 and vm-3 - and you ping vm-4 (which doesn't exist) you'll see this error - so double check that host name ;-)
