Linux version of Teams worked fine in the past but now makes some mistakes in audio routing

I originally posted my question here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/msteams_tff-msteams_meeting-msteams_audio/teams-started-making-mistakes-with-regard-to-audio/9b3606ae-8a22-431f-babd-a886fd87158a . There are a lot more details there.

It was recommended I post here, in hopes of attracting the attention of some Microsoft Engineers to my problem. I am using the "Desktop Client" on Ubuntu 18.04. The problems I have appeared in the last 6 months, approximately. I was able to use Teams without a problem in the past. But, when I started using it again, a week ago, the output audio was not going to the audio output I selected in the Device Settings. The input was coming from the input device selected, but it was accompanied by a high amount of static. The audio on my computer works fine for Zoom, which I use daily and Slack. Lots of things were investigated in this issue as you can find in the linked question. My recommendation, from substantial experience, is that logging be enabled in the client (I don't know how) so its behavior can be examined more closely.

I am not a paid user of Teams. Why? I only use it to communicate with one of my clients which is a paid user. I speak to them for up to 2 hours a week and that will only last for 6 weeks total. It doesn't really seem to make sense for me to become the only paid user at my company in order to communicate for that brief amount of time. It is too bad my client's paid use cannot count for my question.
