Any one know how I can figure out why my RDP session is laggy? For example, for the past month or so after seaming installing windows updates, scrolling, typing and dragging has a 1-2 second lag every 10-20 seconds. It's quite annoying as I am making typing mistakes etc. Any ideas how to diagnosis this issue? There doesn't seem to be high cpu, memory usage , disk issues or network issues. I can remote into other machines on the same network just fine without this issue. I've tried tuning the rdp client graphics settings to no avail. I don't even know what performance counter to add to monitor this type of thing... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

May I know if you remote the rdp server via WIFI?
Please try to install the latest release KB4559004 (18362.997) on rdp server and see if the issue could be resolved.

No, I'm hardwired with Gigabit fiber on both sides. I'll try installing that and see what happens!
I'm a little nervous about installing that patch. I am running this machine in a VM. However, it's a windows 10 Hyper-v Client VM... It seems that patch (and other windows updates related) disable Remote FX vGPU. I'm not sure if I'm using that feature or even if it's available in hyper-v client. It seems like it's only available in servers, but some info out there isn't clear. I would really not like my VM get disabled right now... I'm wondering if the changes to hyper-v recently might have been the cause of this issue too... Also, I don't see anything in the release notes for this patch that might fix my issue. Also, this patch is preview which makes me nervous too as this machine is my daily driver...

If you have concern on installing the KB, please try to remote to this VM's host machine to see if there is same lag issue. If no issue, the problem should be from the VM itself.
Also, you can use another RDP client to remote to this VM (RDP server) to check if there is same issue.
