MIM SP2 LP Update Rollback

Hi,

we tried to install the latest hotfixes (4.6.258.0 to 4.6.540.0) in a MIM SP2 environment (with SharePoint 2013 - I know not recommended). The basic hotfix installation for the MIM Portal went fine, but the language pack update (only german) result every time in a rollback (Admin rights are correct).
The only error I see when I run the msp file in log mode is:

  • CAQuietExec: Error 0xe0434352: Command line returned an error.
  • CAQuietExec: Error 0xe0434352: QuietExec Failed
  • CAQuietExec: Error 0xe0434352: Failed in ExecCommon method
  • CustomAction FIMServiceResourceLocalizer returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)

When we used the language pack directly out of the azure ad premium installation package (version 4.6.421.0) it works fine.

My question is now why the MSP update packages for the LP is not working? Do we miss any requirements? Do we need to change something in the registry or in config files? Is it generally not working with SharePoint Foundation 2013?
