After changing computer, sub-folders are missing in cached mode

Hello,

I configure an existing email (based on exchange server) on a new computer with cached mode 'all', but all subfolders are missing. OWA is ok and synchronisation on the old computer works fine. There is a lot of folders and subfolders on 3-4 levels ; maybe 1400 folders.

If cached mode is desactivated, all is ok.

I tried to tranfer the top level folder in a new folder from OWA interface, but no synchronisation of the subfolders.

I tried :

Outlook.exe /cleanviews

Outlook.exe /resetnavpane

Outlook.exe /resetfolders

but nothing worked.

If I generate a pst file from the exchange interface, all the folders and subfolders are ok in the file.

any help would be apreciated

thomas

    Hi @THOMAS ,

There is a lot of folders and subfolders on 3-4 levels ; maybe 1400 folders.

Based on my experience, 1400 folders are quite a large amount for Outlook desktop client running in cached mode. While it's not necessary that every Outlook client will be affected as other factors like hardware configurations are also involved, but indeed, this large number of folders may lead to Outlook performance issues like folders not displaying correctly. See
Outlook performance issues when there are too many items or folders in a cached mode .ost or .pst file.

With the above being said, please try adjusting the "Mail to keep offline" setting to reduce the caching period and see if there would be any improvement.

In case the issue persists, personally I'd suggest considering using online mode on the new computer instead.

Additionally, below is a blog I found which talks about a relevant topic for your reference:
