This has been going on forever and a day. I can't fix it and I even disabled my anti-virus temporarily thinking that it might have been stopping it. Still no luck.

I click to restart, the update tries but then says it can't and it backs all the changes off then it goes ahead and reboots. The update screen shows this:

Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80070003)

2021-11 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5007253)

I am at my wits end!

How can this be fixed?

    Hello @Velda Miller

The error could be related Component Store Corruption. The recommended first step is to open and admin cmd and run:

    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

    Then run: SFC /scannow

Reboot machine and try a new scan.

If problem persists I suggested you review and look for error in CBS log files located in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS

    Regards,

    Juan Sobrado

    Hi @Velda Miller

I would first suggest you try getting the updates manually and see you can install them.
You can get the updates by KB (KB5007253) number from the below link
    https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx

You can also temporarily disable all your antivirus and try installing the updates.

If this manual update fails you then try using the SFC & DISM command to check for any corrupted registries and try the update installation again.

If the scan yield no result then try the Inplace update which will surely sort this issue out.
