When we went from newsgroups to the MSDN forums, the newsgroups were lost along with answers that were still relevant. As the new Q&A site was being developed, we asked Microsoft to keep the MSDN forum around but locked for new content so developers can get answers and we don't have to start over. The MSDN / Technet forums are still there for historical review and get answers that are still valid. This new Q&A site is the new place to post questions. If you do a search on a topic, you may hit a MSDN post.
