Deleted B2C tenant but the namespace it used is not released

I deleted a B2C tenant successfully. The B2C domain used a custom domain name. I want to reuse that namespace for another Azure tenant. When I verify the custom domain name for the new tenant I got the following and failed verification.

"A distinct domain name can only be verified in a single directory, if you previously verified the domain name in another Azure AD that you use with Office 365, it must be deleted before it can be verified in your new directory. Contact your IT admin department to remove the domain name from the existing directory."

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi @Karl Wang • Thank you for reaching out.

The verified domain(s) must be removed from the tenant before deleting it. Once the tenant is deleted, there is nothing that can be done from your side as you won't be able to access the deleted tenant.

In this case, you will have to open a support ticket and provide evidence of your ownership of the custom domain by creating MX/TXT records as requested by the support team. Once the validation is done successfully, they will release the custom domain from the backend so that it becomes available to be added to the new tenant.
