Uanble to get DeviceID when using Mobile Apps and Desktop clients

Hi,
I have setup a point to site VPN using Azure AD authentication. I want to filter on devices using their device ID in conditional access. I have configured a policy with report only.
When I sign in using the Azure VPN client, I can see that the device ID and join type are blank. Meanwhile, if I login to the portal using the browser, both device ID and join type are populated.
Can you please help me with this issue?
