SSIS - getting data from Oracle - not working preview and metadata refresh

Sort of a copy of

https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/892e1cb0-9090-4406-8601-52b3a3a4fc11/unable-to-preview-oracle-ole-db-source-in-ssdt-172vs2015?forum=ssdt

But... I am in need to create new VM with tools to develop already deployed application that uses SSIS to grac data from Oracle 12.

And... I can not create SSDT env that would make it possible.

Every single possible combination (version) i checked of tools (Windows, VS, SSDT) end up not working.

It's not that I can not create SSIS package. It's that it IS horrible experience...

Because... To change any metadata of column already developed I need it to be removed and added again. Not to mention that Preview crashes the way it is described in the mentioned above thread.

I can not create recommendation right now what VS (2015/2017/2019) or system (8.1/10/2012R2/2016/2019) will work at all. Not the best, but working at all.

Please advice.

P.S. Not my idea to create tags that do not match SSIS on SSIS forum... (or so it was stated in redirection)

    Hi @Tomasz Malec ,

Please Download SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) for Visual Studio.

And then use Oracle source in SSDT.

    Best Regards,
    Mona
