I know, this was not the smart thing to do at ALL. I've never been caught by one of these before. I got an email that said that there was an email added to my security in my microsoft account and of course I clicked the "it wasn't me" and it had me send an email to an address "unrecognized.suspicious.activity@Stuff .com". Of course I did not think about how that was odd before hitting send. I did not give any personal information except my email address (by replying) and I changed my password on my microsoft account. I did this all on my phone. I'm not sure if I need to take anymore steps from here? Do I need to be worried about malware on my phone?

Oh man. The exact same thing just happened to me and I clicked on the link to say "It wasn't me". I never fall for spam emails, but this one got me. I immediately changed all my passwords. I really hope nothing bad happens.

I just got the same email and it looked so real! I was Googling to see if this was a real email before deleting it and so glad you posted.
Must be the new scam making its rounds, but this one was good.

I fell for the same exact email scam. Now I'm receiving 5-6 phishing emails per day and they are from various email domains so I'm unable to completely block these emails from coming into my inbox. Any help would very much be appreciated.

Note, I never received this amount of scam emails before so I, unfortunately, caused this to happen after sending that email to "unrecognized.suspicious.activity@Stuff .com". All the emails look the same so it must be from the same scammer. Please help us with your advice and feedback. Thanks in advance.

Just got this fake Microsoft email today warning of a logon attempt from Nigeria. I almost fell for this as well, but I decided to view my logon activity first to verify. There was only one activity, my most recent, so I opened a chat/ticket with Microsoft. They couldn't verify if an email was sent by them or any other activity, but advised to change my password. Next, under View-->View Message Source, saw that the body contained garbage and a Gmail account on the Click button. Aha! I reported this to MS via Report a Concern. Now I just received a 2nd fake email.

I'm getting lots of these e-mails. Although the e-mail appears to be from no-reply@microsoft.com, If you view the e-mail properties aka e-mail header you will see that the reply e-mail is 'newsletter@figoshine.com '. You can also see this by clicking reply to the e-mail ...obviously don't send the reply!
I think googling it this is what is termed an e-mail spoofed phishing attack.

The dodgy "unrecognized.suspicious.activity@Stuff .com".reply addresses don't seem to ask for any password so perhaps the phishers are trying to compile a list of potential victims for a follow attack. Not sure though so be vigilant.

The whois info for figoshine.com domain is scant, seems to be run by NAMECHEAP INC and registered in Iceland.

I've flagged these e-mails as phishing attempts in my outlook but hasn't stopped me getting them. I've now added the figoshine.com domain to my blocked senders list in the hope that will stop the e-mails.

I got it & almost fell for it, luckily I didn't. also, w/ outlook flags it as spam so that helps out if you have it.

I also fell for it a few says ago. Since then the only thing that has changed is that I receive way more spam mail now.

I did the same thing. Looked at the "email" that it appeared to originate from and it appeared legit. But after looking at my SENT mail from my computer (versus on my iphone) it actually went to the email: unrecognized.suspicious.chenged@grigogon@gmail.com .com

Little frustrated that as a stand alone account there isn't an easy way to report this or block it.

Hi Kylie, Can you advise what to do with all the junk emails that are coming through now? they are all coming from different address even if i block and report they keep coming since i responded to the fake Microsoft email! grrrr im so annoyed with self.

Yes, it is SCAM and FAKE for sure.
NEVER reply and do NOT click on link and attachments.
Right click and mark it as Phishing or Junk and in case it ask you to report it , please do so.

I did reply, so its too late, and now im receiving so many junk emails, i mean about 30/40 a day from various addresses, how do i deal with that? is there a way of stopping it other than reporting and blocking?

I did the same this morning - hit the 'Report The User'. I looked at the address it came from and thought it looked right (can't believe I am soooo stupid not to have checked it out first). I've since been searching to find out what I can do. I have changed my email password and I also have authentication set up so anyone trying to get in I should get a text message.
I'm not sure what replying may have sent them possible the IP address? can they do anything with that? I was on my iPhone so hopefully ok there security wise. Any other comments or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
