Hi,

NetApp provided with "OnCommand Plug-in for Microsoft" ManagementPacks for System Center Operations Manager . However, OnCommand Plug-in for Microsoft became EOVS on 6/30/2020.
NetApp also changed from ONTAP to "Active IQ".
Does anybody know if there are free or purchasable MangementPacks available to monitor NetApp Active IQ with SCOM?
Anyone has an integration with Netapp Unified Manager?

Regards,
Stefan

    Hi Stefan (@Stefan Horz ),

Does anybody know if there are free or purchasable MangementPacks available to monitor NetApp Active IQ with SCOM?
There are currently none (sorry to disappoint you) MPs for Active Q. I thought they have a proprietary plugin to integrate with SCOM, but unfortunately I haven't seen it.

What you can though is to author your own Management Pack for Active Q, based on the .mib file of Unified Maanager. What you can do is:

    • Add your Active Q UM Instance to SCOM as a network device.
    • Download the .MIB

Where can I download the MIB files for Active IQ Unified Manager?
    https://kb.netapp.com/Advice_and_Troubleshooting/Data_Infrastructure_Management/Active_IQ_Unified_Manager/Where_can_I_download_the_MIB_files_for_Active_IQ_Unified_Manager%3F

    • Use the "System Center Operations Manager - Extensible Network Monitoring Management Pack Generator tool" to generate a SCOM MP, based on the .mib file of Active Q UM:

System Center Operations Manager - Extensible Network Monitoring Management Pack Generator tool
    [https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=e2becf7d-29c2-4bd5-8bcb-3ba9868984db2

You can select the OIDs of the components you want monitored. the tool goes with an guide, which will help you use it.

    • You can also get the SNMP traps from the Active Q UM, by configuring SCOM as a trap receiver:

SNMP Trap monitoring with SCOM 2012 R2
    https://kevinholman.com/2015/02/03/snmp-trap-monitoring-with-scom-2012-r2/

This would be the way I would go If I cannot use any other integration (plugin, MP, etc.). I knowing yyou I don't thnk the aauthoring a simple MP with the tool will be problem :)

    Hope I could help!
