My StorageV2 (general purpose v2) account in East US will not allow me to archive my blobs. Why?

All of the documentation that I've read indicate that a "StorageV2 (general purpose v2)" account in "East US" should support the archive tier, but none of the blobs in the account show archive as an option in the portal, and I get an error when using the Azure CLI indicating that the archive tier is not supported for this type of storage.

This documentation suggests that this should be possible given that "East US" supports archiving.

    @Greg Fritz
    Thanks so much for providing this information. I confirmed that archive tier is not currently supported for ZRS accounts. If you wish to set Archive for a blob the storage account must use LRS/GRS/RA-GRS.

    Apologies for the confusion here and any inconvenience this may have caused. I am working to have a note added to the Azure Blob storage: hot, cool, and archive access tiers page that calls this issue out.

    Please let me know if you have further issues or questions and I will be happy to assist!

    @Greg Fritz
    Archive tiering is supported in East US and I confirmed I am able to currently change my blobs to archive without issue. Please note that archive tier can only be set at the individual blob level. Archive storage and blob-level tiering only support block blobs. Perhaps this could be your issue?

    If this is not your issue please provide the CLI command you are running and the complete error message you are receiving.
