Windows updates are not installing on windows 2016 dataScenter

Question

Hi,

Im trying to install windows updates on windows 2016 data center server. But showing this patch is not applicable.

Im not unaware completely what happened earlier. But below are my observations.

As per OS build version (Microsoft windows server version (OS Build 14393.4770), observed that that patch-KB5007192 was installed. That means patches were installed upto N0v-2021.

But those patches are not showing as installed in controller panel, installed packages, registry, etc..

So it is showing Zero patches were installed.

When I run get-hotfix, it is showing blank. Here other updates (MS office) are installing perfectly.

But when im trying to install windows updates (Ex:KB5011495) or any SSU(KB5011570), its showing this patch is not applicable.

Below I have performed: ran sfc/scannow, done update component re-set, Ran DISM and found inconsistency, but I fixed those issues by DISM command by giving source OS image.

Again I tried to install updates manually but getting same message ‘This update is not applicable to r computer . I ran windows update agent online, but patches are not showing/not fetching. Tried to ran using .cab by DISM command but same issue.

Is there any possibility to cleanp all windows updates and how to confirm that?

How to proceed to troubleshoot and install the latest updates? is there any dependencies to install for any SSU?

If we can install latest SSU, we can install latest CU.

Hello @s prasad reddy

If the latest SSU is already installed and you are sure that patch version matches os arquitecture, next steps are to check cbs in detail. Look for words like "failed to" , "corrupt".

From the description of no updates shown with Get-hotfix I wonder the state of the packages. A quick check would be to run: "dism /online /get-packages /format:table" Please share the output.

Jaun, No SSU's were installed. Iam trying to install latest SSU (KB5011570) and few other old SSU's but getting error this update is not applicable.
I tried to verify CBS logs but did not find any corrupt
