hi team,

i want to backup my azure blobs. i know that we have multiple solutions, operational backup or soft delete

the thing is that my blobs are based on the archive tier, and operational backup doesn;t support it

i tried to test it using the soft blob delete, it lets me undelete by i need to change the access tier of the deleted archived blob to hot or cool however the change tier button is greyed out so i cant choose it eventhough in the undeleted i can see the archived blob. do you know if archive blobs aren't supported to be backed up by any solution?

thanks

    @eg1995
    I understand you are looking for a solution to backup archived blobs. Please let me know if I am understanding the issue correctly.

    While a blob is in the Archive access tier, it's considered to be offline and can't be read or modified. In order to read or modify data in an archived blob, you must first rehydrate the blob to an online tier, either the Hot or Cool tier. This is why it is incompatible with the solutions you are checking. Archive blobs are meant to be a backup or offline storage so there is not options to back them up.

    Archive access tier supports LRS, GRS, or RA-GRS redundancy. If you are needing a backup perhaps using GRS will be enough for you. Geo-redundant storage (GRS) copies your data synchronously three times within a single physical location in the primary region using LRS. It then copies your data asynchronously to a single physical location in a secondary region that is hundreds of miles away from the primary region. More information can be found on the Azure Storage redundancy page.
