Hello,

I installed several consoles and one is giving me trouble...

I check the firewall it looks good.
I reinstall the CM Client and it works also...
I have a role-based administration security role: Full Administrator
The configuration manager console version is 5.2103.1059.3100

My user account as Remote Activation permissions on the configuration manager server and the SMS Provider computer.
The computer has network connectivity to the SMS Provider computer

  1. How do I identify the SMS Provider Computer? Is it unique?

I checked the SMAdminUI.log in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager and could not find any error!!!
I am also looking for the SMSProv.log but could not find it!!!

Any idea?

Thanks,
Dom

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

1,How do I identify the SMS Provider Computer?
Navigate to Administration\Overview\Site Configuration\Sites\Properties\General\SMS Provider Location.

    2,Is it unique?
No, it's not uniuqe, more than one SMS providers can be installed in the hierarchy. By default, an SMS Provider installs on the site server when you install a central administration site (CAS) or primary site. Multiple SMS Provider can be used in case of requirement of connecting to database using configuration manager console by many administrators at same time.

3,For the issue console issue, please add full control permission of the Logs folder (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Logs) to the users to have a try. Similar thread for your reference:

    Hello,

1.How do I identify the SMS Provider Computer?
Navigate to Administration\Overview\Site Configuration\Sites\Properties\General\SMS Provider Location.
VRPSCCMPR01.xxx.xxx.xxx this is the Primary server
I checked on my console as the new one is not installed yet due to the error...

    2.Is it unique?
Multiple SMS Provider can be used in case of requirement of connecting to database using configuration manager console by many administrators at same time.
I would be interested by multiple SMS Providers as I have almost 100 administrators... How could I add at least one SMS Provider to test?

3.For the issue console issue, please add full control permission of the Logs folder (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Logs) to the users to have a try. Similar thread for your reference:

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

1,It seems to be a network issue. Please check with the Firewall teams if the required ports like TCP 135, UDP 135 and dynamic TCP port for RPC from console to SMS provider and site server is opened. If possible, we can disable the Firewall to have a try. Refer to the official article: Ports used in Configuration Manager

2,A similar thread for your reference. The solution here is to dd an entry into the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\Hosts file.
    Console connection error 0x800706BA

Hope it helps. Have a nice day!

    Best regards,
    Simon
