BGInfo stopped working after Windows Update (5/11/2022) for Windows 11

Following last night's Windows Update for Windows 11 (5/11/2022), BgInfo runs but fails to update the desktop wallpaper image with new data (e.g., 'Boot Time' is not being updated).

I can run BGInfo manually from my Startup folder and it appears to launch the cmd.exe window as usual, but it does not update the BGInfo text on screen.

Oddly, it did update the 'Boot Time' display following the update at 5/12/2022 2:19 AM, but has not updated it on subsequent restarts.

    Hi,

You try to look at the referenced registry key (\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProductName) and you see that Windows 11 thinks it is Windows 10.
    If so, then it's not a BGinfo problem, it's a windows11 problem

This should be the reason why Microsoft has not updated it. It is recommended to find a suitable replacement, or wait for the next version of Windows 11 to test again, and the next version will be released in the second half of 2022.

Open Bginfo.exe, On the opened BGInfo window select/click OS Version -> Custom -> On the User Defined Fields window click on New… -> Now specify your Identifier name, logically you would use OS or something alike that. -> Select WMI Query -> SELECT Caption FROM Win32_OperatingSystem -> OK
Now select from BGI menu this created (this case OS), ADD it to your list to be shown. Save.

For the problem that the startup time is not updated, there is a method you can try, in the "Control Panel - System and Security - Power Options - Choose what the power button does - Shutdown Settings - Uncheck Enable fast startup, and then restart the computer to check.
