On my pc trying to play DeathStranding in epic games . I downloaded the game and when i hit launch i get this message.

The code excution cannot proceed because vcruntime140_1dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.

please help

also im running on a HP Omen

In case it helps anybody else.

I got this error on Windows 10 after a failed install (and subsequently successful) of MS Office 2016:
"The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll
was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

The error was displayed when attempting to launch any MS Office app.
Firefox browser simply stopped working although it didn't display any errors.

After trawling through numerous sites offering fixes that worked for some folks but not others, I found the site www.techpowerup.com site offering a download of ALL the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes in an All-in-One package.

I downloaded it, virus-checked the download, had a look at the install.bat file, then ran it.

Within a couple of minutes the series of installs all completed, and my apps all worked.

This turned out to be a very easy fix, thanks to the folks who compiled the All-in-One package.

Thank you!! I had the same problem and kept on re-installing 2015-2022 but it didn't fix it. The www.techpowerup.com site with all the files at once was super simple to use. I've been tearing out my hair for hours! This worked finally.

My assessment: it must have been something in the pre-2015 files. Stoked to have my Outlook back! Thanks again.

I must say "Thank you very much!!" for posting this fix! As others report here, I ran into the same problem simply trying to install Firefox browser on a new laptop. "VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found." After searching for possible solutions, and also running into a fake support site trying to scam me, my searching took me to this page.

I hesitantly clicked the links provided to techpowerup.com, downloaded the all-in-one package, did a virus scan, then installed the files/drivers. After that, I re-downloaded and installed Firefox browser and everything worked perfectly!!

I admit that I don't understand the technical aspects behind the problem, or the fix, but I certainly am happy that it worked and that all of you who posted comments gave me confidence to try this solution.

THANK YOU for getting me out of that jam!

This worked for me too. Office 2016 business was popping up this error, it stopped as soon as I ran the all-in-one .bat file. I would do as an earlier poster and check the .bat file before running it. This is good practice for anyone that runs .bat files.

Made an account just to say thank you. Need Linux on my computer for a temporary time after I didn't I got rid of it which broke msvcp, vcruntime, and as well as CONCRT and could not for the life of me figure out how to fix it, couldn't run a few games. I was about to just restore the compute but im glad I found this comment cause this fixed everything in about 2 minutes. restarted and was good to go! thanks a lot!

Addendum- I found I was still having an issue with these though I could open apps and use them I noticed the message was still appearing along with command prompts. I noticed disabling Cortana and deactivating its startup, lastly restarting it from the app fixed these dastardly errors.

vcruntime140_1.dll is a VC++ 2019 runtime dll.

The latest VC++ redistributable available at the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads should provide this dll. There is not enough information in the question to determine if the 32-bit or 64-bit version of the redistributable is needed.

Beginning with VC++ 2015 all the runtime dlls have used the v140 designation in connection with Microsoft's implementation of binary compatibility.

ive downloaded the files and tried to open the game, and it still says "vcruntime140_1.dll was not found"I'm not sure what to do about this

The installer for the game should have detected and installed this dll as part of its setup process. So, I'd first try re-installing the game.

If that fails, you can install the VC runtime from the MS download center. I believe that v14 is 2015?

I have windows 64 bit. Whenever I run iTunes or 3UTools this file VCruntime140_1.dll vanishes.
