Hi All,

Thanks in Advance

We are using DHCP MP.

There is a request from the customer to disable a specific VLAN ex: 878Corp from monitoring.

Is there any option to disable the specific vlan from object discovery. I am not able to find the object discovery to disable the specific Vlan

Thanks & Regards,
Anu

    Hi @ANU ,

DHCP knows the concept of scopes, so when you are working with the MP, you have to know which DHCP scope the vlan corresponds to.
When you know which DHCP scope is covering the vlan in question, then you need to override the scope related discoveries or monitors. The one in yellow is what yyoou are looking for (this is from the .docs guide of the DHCP MP):

So, find out what network (IP and subnet mask) this vlan covers, find the respective DHCP scope and create an override for it.

    Hi @ANU ,

This is the correct one (or at least one of the 10 related discoveries):

DHCP 2016 and 1709+ Scopes Discovery With Paging(0 to 10 Percent)
    https://systemcenter.wiki/?GetElement=Microsoft.Windows.DHCPServer.10.0.Scopes.WithPagingDiscovery0to10PercentScopes&Type=Discovery&ManagementPack=Microsoft.Windows.DHCPServer.2016&Version=10.1.0.1

You can disable this for the scope in question. Afterwards you need to run:

    Remove-SCOMDisabledClassInstance

    Hi @ANU ,

"The above shown discoveries are not targeted to scope." - They do not have to be targed at the scope class to be the proper ones. It is sufficient when those are trageted to a parrent class, which is the case here.
This is the proper discovery, for dioscvering scopes, the one you have mentioned populates certian groups from the MP. Here is the relevant evidence:

    From:
DHCP 2016 and 1709+ Super Scope Group Populator
    https://systemcenter.wiki/?GetElement=Microsoft.Windows.DHCPServer.10.0.Populate.Group.SuperScopes&Type=Discovery&ManagementPack=Microsoft.Windows.DHCPServer.2016&Version=10.1.0.1

    Knowledge Base article:
    Summary
This Discovery Rule discovers and populates the DHCP 2016 and 1709+ Super Scopes group named "DHCP 2016 and 1709+ Super Scopes" with instances of Super Scopes defined in Server that are running a Microsoft Windows DHCP Server 2016 and 1709+.

Populating the group is only possible when the instances of the scope class have been dioscvered. This is done by the worklfow I already referenced.

Hope i was able to help.

    Hi Anu,

need to clarify this once again: you won't find such option, because you are dealling with scopes not with vlans in the SCOM DHCP MP.
So, whaat you need to do is: find out which ip adress range corresponds to your vlan, find the related DHCP scope for it and exclude it from monitoring.

    Hi,

as already mentioned the DHCP Scope Discoevry is called:

"DHCP 2016 and above Scopes Discovery", but since it has paging it looks like this:

Here are the dioscvered classes of the Scopes:

    Hope that helps you out!
