Office apps crashing on Save as - Browse

We have the problem that office applications crash reproducibly at least once a day without comment if you click on "Browse" when saving or opening files.

We have been looking for a very long time for this problem and now I know all forum entries on this topic.

Finally, after hundreds of tests we found a GPO that causes the error. We have an internal Windows - domain, xxx.at At the same time we have some intranet pages, e.g. sharepoint.xxx.at, etc.
In order for the intranet pages to work, the domain .xxx.at is defined as an intranet site via GPO. (.xxx.at = zone 1)

As soon as the policy is in effect, we have the error with the Office Apps.

Does anybody know the problem or has a solution for it - unfortunately I can't take the zone out, because then the auto-login or other functions of our intranet sites won't work anymore...
Please do not write things like "try safe mode" or "start without addins", etc. Believe me, we have been looking for the bug over the last years and tried everything. The bottom line is that this is simply a bug that exists since Office 2013 until 2019, including O365. But maybe someone knows a working workaround...

BR, Mathias

You can try to Repair/Reinstall Office

    Hi,
In the meantime we were able to narrow down the error even further. The problem occurs as soon as the onpremise sharepoint 2019 server is in the intranet zone. Or the error does not occur when it is removed from the zone. But then you get a login screen when you click on "Browse" in Office apps - so I guess that the error happens here when Office logs on to the sharepoint with the AD account...

    emizhang-msft, thanks for your answer!
We have a Sharepoint 2019 onpremise Server (set to ntlm auth)
Btw. we are currently testing what happens when we switch the Sharepoint to Kerberos - but here I have to wait a few more days. The error can only be triggered about every 24h.

Clients are Windows 10 1909x64, (incl. latest updates)
Office 2019 and Office 365 (incl. latest updates)
AD installed on a 2016 server - functional level "Windows Server 2012"

    BR,
    Mathias

At least this is a good approach where I can dig in... Will post if I find a solution...
