ARR 3.0 on IIS, Windows 11 - ARR icon does not appear in inetmgr

Repro steps:

  1. Enable IIS under windows features (succeeds)
  2. Install URL Rewrite v2 from MSI (succeeds)
  3. Install ARR 3.0 from MSI (succeeds - or so it says)
  4. Open inetmgr

Outcome:

The local server is selected. Under "IIS" heading, "Application Request Routing Cache" appears.. but not the main ARR one itself.

I've looked at numerous (old!) threads on this. None of the solutions or suggestions provided work, including full uninstall/reinstall cycles.

I'm trying to set up a reverse proxy with rewriting for some local services. It's going to be fairly painful but I'll set up NGINX locally under Docker and see if that can work.

But - it looks like ARR 3.0 should be supported?

I have never had an issue. But see this thread

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/44488793/how-to-configure-arr-under-iis-10-without-arr-icon-in-iis-mgmt-console

Note: installing v2 first may be your issue. I’d uninstall both, reboot and then install 3.0

    You can try this solution:

Uninstall IIS first, then remove everything under %windir%\system32\inetsrv, and then reinstall IIS. After installing IIS, you can install arr from the following link: application-request-routing.

Note: choose the appropriate version of arr(x86 installer / x64 installer).
