To complete this procedure, you must be logged on as a member of the Domain Admins security group.

Removing certain types of attachments from e-mail received from the Internet helps to prevent a virus or malicious program from accessing your local network through e-mail. By default, the first time you run the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard, potentially dangerous e-mail attachment types will be removed from Internet e-mail.

  1. Start the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard.

  2. On the Connection Type page, click Do not change connection type.

  3. On the Firewall page, click Do not change firewall configuration.

  4. On the Web Services Configuration page, click Do not change current Web Server certificate.

  5. On the Internet E-mail page, click Enable Internet e-mail.

  6. Follow the instructions until you reach the Remove E-mail Attachments page, and then do one or more of the following:

    • To add a new attachment type that you want to remove from Internet e-mail, click Add. In the E-mail Attachment Type dialog box, type the values for File name extension and Description.

    • To modify a selected attachment type that is already assigned, click Edit. In the E-mail Attachment Type dialog box, type the values for File name extension and Description.

    • To remove the selected attachment type from the list of attachment types, click Remove.

  7. Follow the instructions to complete the wizard.
