Monitor Update Services

Platí pro: Windows SBS 2003

You can monitor the performance of Update Services to be aware of any problems with Update Services or with individual update installations, and to confirm successful operation.

View the status of Update Services

The main way to view the status of Update Services is on the Update Services home page. On the Update Services home page, you can view the status of Update Services under the Update Services Status heading.

Information about the status of Update Services is also available in the Server Performance Report. The report displays an entry for the status of Update Services in the Summary and displays a more detailed status in the Update Services section.

To view Update Services status in the Server Performance Report

  1. Click Start, and then click Server Management.

  2. In the console pane of the Server Management console, click Monitoring and Reporting.

  3. Find the entry for Update Services under Summary. Click Details. The page scrolls to the Update Services section.

Monitor the use of disk space

It is important that you consider the usage of disk space when you are monitoring the status of Update Services. Over time, the location where updates are downloaded and stored may become full. If the storage location becomes full, Update Services cannot continue to download new updates as they are released.

In addition, if updates are stored on the same drive as the Exchange Server 2003 mail store and the disk becomes full, the Exchange store goes offline and Exchange Server 2003 stops operating normally.

For these reasons, you should regularly monitor the amount of free disk space that is available where the updates are stored. You can view the amount of free disk space on all drives on the computer that is running Windows SBS. Look in the Server Performance Report under Performance Summary.

Důležité

In some cases, you may want to change the location where Update Services stores updates. For information about how to move the storage location, see the Troubleshooting section in the Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) Help file. To do so, click Start, and then point to Administrative Tools. Click Microsoft Windows Server Update Services. On the home page for WSUS, click Help. When the help file for WSUS appears, click Troubleshooting on the Contents tab. On the Troubleshooting topic page, under Updates, click Disk where update files are stored is full or failed.
