Onsite Tape Changer
Platí pro: Windows SBS 2003
You can select an onsite user responsible for changing backup tapes. This user receives calendar reminders in Microsoft Outlook for each day the backup is scheduled, and at the time specified in the Backup Configuration Wizard. Additionally, this user can be sent monthly reminders to clean the tape drive (set for the same time the tape is changed). Keeping the tape drive clean helps prolong tape life and prevent data loss.
If Exchange Server 2003 is not installed, or is not available, none of the selections on this page are available. If a user does not have an Exchange mailbox, his or her name will not appear in the drop-down list.
The tape changer is not added to any security groups and is not granted any rights on the server. This user is responsible for removing the ejected tape, inserting a new tape (according to the predefined tape rotation schedule), and cleaning the tape drive.
You could also have the tape changer store backup tapes offsite. Tapes regularly stored offsite help you recover data in the event of a disaster, such as a fire, that destroys all onsite data and backup media.
