Hinweise

Die im X.509 v3-Zertifikatformat definierten Erweiterungen ermöglichen die Aufnahme zusätzlicher Daten in das Zertifikat. Eine Reihe von Erweiterungen werden von ISO in der X.509 v3-Definition sowie von PKIX in RFC 3280 , "Certificate and Certificate Revocation List (CRL)-Profil" definiert. Häufige Erweiterungen umfassen Informationen zur Schlüsselverwendung (X509KeyUsageExtension), Schlüsselbezeichnern (X509SubjectKeyIdentifierExtension), Zertifikatrichtlinien, Sperrinformationen (CRL-Verteilungspunkterweiterung) und anderen Verwendungen.
