System Center 2012

The Service Manager 2012 Software Development Kit (SDK) lets you develop applications that integrate with the Service Manager platform. This platform is installed with System Center 2012 – Service Manager. The Service Manager SDK includes the following resources:

  • Service Manager 2012 SDK documentation
The SDK documentation describes how to use the Service Manager class libraries to create or customize applications that interact with Service Manager. The documentation also contains reference information for the class libraries and documents the schema used to create XML-based management packs. For more information, see Getting Started with the Service Manager SDK.
  • Service Manager 2012 SDK code examples
The SDK code examples demonstrate how to programmatically interact with Service Manager. If the code example could be expressed in management pack XML, it will be displayed along with the code example.
  • Service Manager 2012 SDK assemblies
The SDK assemblies expose the managed APIs that are used to create Service Manager based solutions. To build the applications described in this documentation, you will need to reference the Service Manager SDK assembly files when compiling and building your code. These files are installed when the Service Manager product is installed, and the assemblies are stored in the %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft System Center\Service Manager 2012\SDK Binaries\ folder after installation.

Revision History

Release Date Changes

April, 2012

The initial release. The content is based on the System Center Service Manager 2010 SDK. This release is considered the next version of that SDK. The content has been restructured and expanded. Any mention of Service Manager has been changed to System Center where concepts were generic enough.

The Management Pack XML content currently conforms to the 1.1 version of the schema. This is out of date.

The managed reference content is based on the Service Manager 2012 SDK binaries but is still a work in progress.

January, 2012

Renamed references of System Center SDK to Service Manager SDK.
