OracleCommandBuilder.GetInsertCommand Method

Definition

Gets the automatically generated OracleCommand object required to perform insertions on the database.

Overloads

GetInsertCommand(Boolean)

Gets the automatically generated OracleCommand object required to perform insertions on the database.

GetInsertCommand()

Gets the automatically generated OracleCommand object required to perform insertions on the database.

Remarks

You can use the GetInsertCommand method for informational or troubleshooting purposes because it returns the OracleCommand object to be executed.

You can also use GetInsertCommand as the basis of a modified command. For example, you might call GetInsertCommand and modify the CommandText value, and then explicitly set that on the OracleDataAdapter.

The SQL statements are first generated when the application calls either Update or GetInsertCommand.

For more information, see Generating Commands with CommandBuilders.

GetInsertCommand(Boolean)

Gets the automatically generated OracleCommand object required to perform insertions on the database.

public:
 System::Data::OracleClient::OracleCommand ^ GetInsertCommand(bool useColumnsForParameterNames);
public System.Data.OracleClient.OracleCommand GetInsertCommand (bool useColumnsForParameterNames);
override this.GetInsertCommand : bool -> System.Data.OracleClient.OracleCommand
Public Function GetInsertCommand (useColumnsForParameterNames As Boolean) As OracleCommand

Parameters

useColumnsForParameterNames
Boolean

true to generate parameter names matching column names, if possible. false to generate @p1, @p2, and so on.

Returns

The automatically generated OracleCommand object required to perform insertions.

The default behavior, when generating parameter names, is to use @p1, @p2, and so on, for the various parameters. Passing true for the useColumnsForParameterNames parameter allows you to force the OracleCommandBuilder to generate parameters based on the column names instead. This succeeds only if the following conditions are met:

GetInsertCommand()

Gets the automatically generated OracleCommand object required to perform insertions on the database.

public:
 System::Data::OracleClient::OracleCommand ^ GetInsertCommand();
public System.Data.OracleClient.OracleCommand GetInsertCommand ();
override this.GetInsertCommand : unit -> System.Data.OracleClient.OracleCommand
Public Function GetInsertCommand () As OracleCommand

Returns

The automatically generated OracleCommand object required to perform insertions.
