Define new jobs

This task focuses on the creation of a new job. It will be completed using manual entry and copy from template functionality. The demo data company used to create this task is USMF. This task is intended for the human resources specialist.

  1. Go to Human resources > Jobs > Jobs.

  2. Select New.

  3. In the Job field, enter a value.

  4. In the Description field, enter a value.

  5. Select a standard title that will be used for the job.

    This title will be used as a default value for new positions that are assigned to the job.

  6. In the list, find and select the desired record.

  7. In the list, select the link in the selected row.

  8. In the Maximum number of positions group, select Maximum positions.

  9. Enter the maximum number of positions.

    Position assignments that exceed this number won't be allowed.

  10. In the Description section, in the Note field, Enter a standard description for the Job.

    This description applies to all positions that are assigned to the job that you're defining.

  11. In the Job classification section, select a job function that will be used in standard reporting in Human resources.

  12. In the list, find and select the desired record.

  13. In the list, select the link in the selected row.

  14. In the Job type field, select a job type to further classify jobs in your organization.

    Job types can be used in reporting throughout Human resources.

  15. In the list, find and select the desired record.

  16. In the list, select the link in the selected row.

  17. In the Compensation section, select a compensation level.

    The compensation level defines the minimum and maximum compensation that an employee can have for the job. Compensation rules will determine whether employees' compensation can be outside the range.

  18. In the list, find and select the desired record.

  19. In the list, select the link in the selected row.

  20. In the Skills section, notice that the fields on the Skills, Education, and Certificates FastTabs are blank. After you copy information from a job template, information will be entered in these fields in a single step.

  21. Select Save.

  22. Select Copy from.

  23. Select Copy from template.

  24. In the Job template field, select the drop-down arrow to open the lookup.

  25. In the list, find and select the desired record.

  26. In the list, select the link in the selected row.

  27. Select the Note option.

    Only the items that you select will be copied to the selected job.

  28. Select OK.

  29. Expand the Certificates section.

  30. Expand the Education section.

  31. Select Save.
