Solutions partner for Data & AI, Infrastructure, and Digital App & Innovation

Appropriate roles: Global admin, MPN Partner admin

This article provides information about the Solutions partner program for all three areas of Azure: Data & AI, Infrastructure, and Digital App & Innovation.

To earn the Microsoft Solutions partner designations in the Azure areas, you must meet the qualification requirements on your partner capability score for each of the areas. This designation is measured by partner performance, skilling, and customer success, and is informed by data that is already recorded in Partner Center. You can easily track your progress towards attaining a Solutions partner for Azure designation below.

To attain a Solutions partner designation, you must earn a minimum of 70 points and must have one or more points for each of the five metrics. (Solutions partner for Azure designations, Business Applications, and Modern Work)

  • Performance category
  • Skilling – Intermediate certifications
  • Skilling – Advanced certifications
  • Customer success – Usage growth
  • Customer success – Deployments

Azure has three separate associated solution areas that have their own separate Solutions partner designations. The three areas, Data & AI, Digital & App Innovation, and Infrastructure, have common requirements and thresholds for metrics in the performance and customer success categories. Each of these areas has its own certification requirements that define the metrics in the skilling category.

The following sections in this document provide details on the requirements for each of the metrics in the three areas.

Performance

The performance category is used to measure your organization's ability to increase the customer base that is using Azure services and workloads. This category has Net customer adds as its primary metric.

Net customer adds

Net customer adds is defined as the number of qualifying workloads added to the customer base during the trailing 12-month period. This metric uses the revenue contribution by your organization on our workloads.

Calculation:

Net customer adds = (Total qualifying customer tenants in latest month) – (Total qualifying customer tenants 12 months ago)

Thresholds to earn maximum points:

Three net-new customer adds in the trailing 12 month period provide you with the 30 maximum points in this metric

Scoring:

Each qualifying net customer tenant added is worth 10 points, up to a maximum of 30 points, obtained from three customer adds.

Eligibility criteria:

A customer tenant qualifies for this metric if the Azure consumed revenue (ACR) is at least USD1,000 for at least one of the last two months. In other words, if a customer tenant is below the threshold of USD1,000 for the last two months, they don't qualify and are considered a lost customer for the current evaluation month.

Eligible workloads::

All Azure services are eligible.

Note

The eligible workloads are subject to change. You should consult them frequently to ensure you have updated and accurate information.

Eligible association types:

Eligible attributions for all Azure areas include CSP Tiers 1 and 2, Digital Partner of Record (DPOR), Partner Admin Link (PAL)

Skilling

The skilling category measures the capability and skills acquired by a partner that is shown by the number of certified individuals in their organization. For all Azure designations, we have two metrics in this category: Intermediate certifications and Advanced certifications. The certifications required are different for each of the three Azure solutions partner designations.

Intermediate certifications

To score points for intermediate certification in the Azure designations' skilling category, members of your organization must obtain any of the certifications listed below. Each certified individual can only count as one for earning points, regardless of the number of certifications completed.

Prerequisite:

Intermediate certification requires at least two people with Azure Administrator Associate certification to qualify for earning any points. If there are less than two people in your organization who are certified with the Azure Administrator Associate certification, you won't earn any points in this metric, even if you meet the certification requirements mentioned below.

After you've satisfied the previously mentioned prerequisites, the certification requirements mentioned below earn you the points for the respective area.

Data & AI:

You earn points in Intermediate certifications for every individual who has obtained any one of the following:

Digital & App Innovation:

You earn points in Intermediate certifications for every individual who has obtained any one of the following:

Infrastructure:

You earn points in Intermediate certifications for every individual who has obtained any one of the following:

Scoring:

Each qualifying individual who fulfills the listed certification requirements is worth four points, for a maximum of up to 20 points.

Advanced certifications

To score points for advanced certifications in the Azure designations' skilling category, members of your organization must obtain any of the certifications listed below. Each certified individual can only count as one for earning points, regardless of the number of certifications completed.

Prerequisite:

Advanced certifications requires at least two people with Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification to qualify for earning any points. If there are less than two people in your organization who are certified as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, you won't earn any points in this metric even if you meet the certification requirements mentioned below.

Note

You can have a combination of the same individuals or different individuals who meet the certification requirements.

After you've met the previously mentioned prerequisites, the certifications mentioned below earn you points for the respective area.

Data & AI:

You earn points in Advanced certifications for every individual who has obtained any one of the following:

Digital & App Innovation:

You earn points in Advanced certifications for every individual who has obtained any one of the following:

Infrastructure:

You earn points in Advanced certifications for every individual who has obtained any one of the following:

Scoring:

Each qualifying individual who fulfills the certification requirements listed above is worth four points, for up to a maximum of 20 points.

Customer success

The customer success category measures your ability to enable growth in the use of Microsoft products or in the expansion of Microsoft Azure services and workloads utilized by customers. There are two metrics in this category: Usage growth and Deployments.

Usage growth

This metric in the customer success category measures your ability to grow use and consumption of our qualifying products. You'll earn points for this metric based on the growth shown in the Azure consumed revenue (ACR) across all of your qualifying customer tenants.

Usage growth = ((ACR in the latest month - ACR from 12 months ago)/ACR from 12 months ago)*100

Thresholds to earn maximum points:

To earn the maximum 20 points in this metric, you need to get 20% growth in the aggregated Azure consumed revenue (ACR) over the trailing 12 months.

Scoring:

Every 10% growth in monthly consumption value is worth 10 points, for up to a maximum of 20 points, obtained from 20% growth.

Eligibility criteria:

You need to have a minimum of USD1,000 to qualify for points in this metric.

Eligible workloads::

Deployments

The Deployments metric measures the total number of advanced Azure services represented in ACR over the last 12 months. An Azure service is defined as a unique top level Azure workload indicated by the Service Level 2 data for the deployed tenants.

Calculation:

Deployments = Number of unique Service Level 2 services from all customer tenant deployments

Thresholds to earn maximum points:

To earn the maximum 10 points in this metric, you need to get five qualifying services deployed over the last 12 months.

Scoring:

Each eligible deployed service gets two points, for up to a maximum of 10 points, obtained from five services.

Eligible workloads:

All Azure services are eligible except Virtual Machines, Virtual Machines Licenses.

Data freshness:

Performance and Customer Success subcategories are typically refreshed by the 10th of every month. However, there may be additional minor data refreshes throughout the month. Skilling subcategories are typically refreshed within a week post certification is completed.
