This is NO replacement for TechNet and it's appalling

This is the last nail in Microsoft's coffin of giving a damn about anything. TechNet was for specific types of questions that were (usually/mostly) from pros, dealing with Server issues or development tools. Being lumped in with "How do I fix my start menu" is outrageous. Add a tag? Really, what kind of tag for an obscure issue with a server + event log + permissions + DNS (and yes, they exist)? This is further evidence that AI is driving us all to madness and despair. So I guess it's Stack Overflow, etc. Let us pray you don't buy them.

Related to non-IT Professional questions, it could be resolved with updating policies. For example, when someone ask questions from consumer point of view (like change the start menu ) then instead of answering the question , we redirect them to Microsoft Answers forums. This would keep the scope and make sure only questions related to IT Professional and Developers will be answered here.
Regarding to the tag, I saw other comments and we have to see and I believe there would be improvement.
Do you have any idea to make this forum better?

Dear QNA team,

For every MSDN and Techet forum that you're killing off, please provide clear directions which tags to follow on this new system.
Ever better - provide a link that opens the QNA site with the proper tags selected automatically.

Otherwise... this QNA experiment is a huge reputation hit for your whole company. Your community members are running away. Thumb down. Shame. -10.

Although I criticise this site for other reasons (mainly not being part of serverfault) I do think this is much better than the technet forums. The latter is just swarmed by people who don't read questions or refuse to understand them and post a completely unrelated answer. Or they reply with marginally better responses than "Have you run sfc.exe?". And usually there is a moderator there that marks that as an answer, completely killing the traction the question may have gotten, leaving the problem unsolved forever.

You are so right. Glad to see that I am not alone here. The technical specification of forum, sub-forum and class must be available and easy to use.

  • on this - now I understand why I see more meaningful technical discussion on reddit.
