The flood of spam posts this morning made me think of a few comments and questions.
When I return from a thread, it can be difficult to tell which threads I have opened. In this case, there were many similar threads posted in a short time. I opened some several times and could only tell I had already reported it because the option was now "Cancel report".
I also cannot tell if someone else has reported a post. Is it OK for multiple people to report the same spam?
Do you recommend we report just one post per user? The MSDN/TechNet forum admins requested we report one post per spammer, because they got swamped with reports and lost track. This meant we had to keep track of the spam users, but we could deal with fewer posts.
In the MSDN/TechNet forums, when the admins banned a user, all posts by that user were deleted in bulk. The posts disappeared in a blink. Since the list of posts in Q&A this morning kept changing, it made me think someone was dealing with them one at a time. Some legitimate posts seemed to disappear, then come back.
If we report one post per user, that means Q&A admins must ban the user. And banning a user must delete all posts by the user in bulk. Otherwise, we must report each post. But if we report just one, then if some posts remain after a period of time, we can report another. When I report all spam posts (like I think I did this morning), if some remain (which they did this morning), I have no options.
