Agree - still can't understand what is the purpose of the "comment" - isn't the "Answer" alone enough??? It's especially inconvenient when someone answers your question by using the "Comment" option and you can't mark it as the Answer...

When this happens, the OP sometimes answers to himself to say that the problem is solved with the comment and mark his own answer =>
impossible to see immediately which is the right answer if there are a lot of comments...
Yeah, they say their problem is solved and mark that response as an answer :(

The intent for comments is to clarify a question or a comment. They are supposed to be short and to the point, thus, they have a character limitation set.
This article explains this in detail.
It is our intent to keep comments in the platform although we agree we can make things more clear in the interface.
