What's wrong with your design and UI dev team? This site is terrible!

This site is complete garbage both in design and function.

First of all, my question "how to make local news search work?" has gone by hitting the submit button. That's functional problem.

Second, this docs.microsoft.com design. Do you need card layouts that much? You can replace them by just a couple of combo boxes. And in Q&A, the "Questions that may already have your answer" pop-up is very annoying. Before you put it there, notice this: if people ask the same questions over and over, that means the docs-reference-samples-Q&A resources are missing or badly organized. Also, make titles and menu buttons pop up more than other elements - why does the "REMEMBER TO..." section have to be that large and with Black Bold? The section advices "all caps will not increase likelihood to be answered" and the title of the section "REMEMBER TO..." looks like an alien cap design in this page.

My solution - return to the old MSDN forums. They were at least usable.

I also agree. MSDN was in need of improvement but this site is a pathetic replacement by comparison.

I have been using MSDN and TechNet for many years and I agreed with the fact that the design and UI for this website is not as great as it suppose to be. However, I also understand that this is just a starting point and Microsoft engineers are working on improving this platform.
Therefore, I would recommend you to share specific feedback to improve the design. Consider question like what should be done to make this website better and UI more user friendly and you may share it as multiple feedbacks. Even though talking about issue with the UI is valid argument but it is subjective. You may share separate feedbacks and talk about features which will improve this website and in case they are valid requirement and it would have high impact on this platform , consider they are have sufficient resources, product team will take it into consideration.

At least with msdn they had a solid foundation that they could have continued to improve. Instead they've, yet again, started the entire process over again and we are expected to tell them everything that is wrong and work through it. This isn't normal. It is however the Microsoft normal.

The proper way to do things is to develop specifications, develop based on those and then test, test some more, fix things, and eventually put it into production. Microsoft likes to skip over the first and most important step (specifications) and simply develop and put into production (yes, skipping proper QA/testing as well!). Then spend years (look at Answers) patching, fixing, redeveloping.

There are a number of very well known forum platforms they could have implemented rather than starting from scratch.

All I can say this is a nightmare to use! Horrible user experience, difficult to use, search, ...

The fact that this is what has been out into production says a lot to the value they hold on this forum. Why close msdn so quickly when this obviously was not ready?!

Sadly, typical Microsoft. Then they won't why people use Stack, EE, UA, ... Instead, it's not very hard to understand.

I am not trying to interfere here but as just a suggestion, if you want to take inspiration for the community design, you can see Khoros, and it is very sleek and easy to use.

Redesigning a community site will really help new users and existing users engage in the site more than ever.

Good Luck
