Tags are necessary in order to provide filtering capability. Tagging a post correctly allows for answerers with expertise in that product or technology to find your question.

Think of tagging as building a taxonomy of terms that will afford you the ability to quickly search, filter, classify, and curate your Azure resources and/or resource groups as anything you desire. If you take the time to tag, tags can be the difference in knowing something in seconds versus minutes within your subscription.
I get that, but I was sending in a question about a "spam" email requesting money. In order to send Microsoft that email I had to pick a tag...
I do not know what their tags are, so I picked something that pulled up, but was probably not accurate, so that my email would go through.
