Microsoft Teams Share Screen Failing With iOS 14 Multitasking

I am not able to share the iPad screen if I am using Multitasking. It fails and stops the screen share. Screen share works fine if only a single App layout is used on iPad. Is there a issues with the App?

Up to 10 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 3.0 MiB each and 30.0 MiB total.

I have updated to the latest version of Teams for my iPad pro. The problem still exists. Restart doesn’t help. Obviously this is a bug when we perform multitasking in iPad after updated to iOS 14. Please solve this bug ASAP. Thanks

Hi @SanjeevMohindra-1861,

Does this issue persist all the time?

Does anyone else have the same issue in your organization?

This issue may because your client version is not support screen sharing when you are using Multitasking. In this case, we recommend you check if your Teams client version is the newest version.

If it is the newest version, you can try to clean your Teams client cache file to see if this issue can be fixed.

I have tried cleaning up the cache or reinstalling the Teams App on iPad. The problem does not go away. Screen sharing works if we are using only one app on screen. In my case I want to use Microsoft Whiteboard in Teams meetings. Since the direct integration is not there in the app, I use iPad multitasking to open Teams and Whiteboard apps.

With iPadOS 14, if I use single app layout to only open Whiteboard app, screen share works fine but with that we loose the teams controls and we need to keep shuffling the apps. As soon as I start multitasking it gives an error that screen share stopped due to multitasking or screen resizing. My guess would be some permissions issues since iPadOS changes a lot of permissions around OS.

@JimmyYang-MSFT could you sove this issue or report to Microsoft to solve this bug immediately? More and more complaint will be coming! There is no issue before the update of iOS 14.

I have the same issue too. iOS 14.1 cannot share screen and work probably. The app would just quit. Zoom doesn’t have this problem.

Someone at Microsoft - This has happened since the update 2.0.23 on 8th of October 2020 . This is on the iPadOS 14.1 .

The instant I share the screen and go to the application in order to share my presentation , the application freezes , the orange dot disappears and I have to disable screen share in order to log into the Meeting again .

Please have mercy help me ! I’m not able to conduct my lectures .

I have sent in at least 5 complaints , and I’m appalled at your apathy towards your customers .

I have the same issue, too. Actually I‘m unable to use the iPad with iOS 14.1 in my lectures. Every time I share my screen with my students on MSTeams the orange dot disappears. I have to log in again. There is no issue with this on the MacBookAir.

A second issue:
After resetting my iPad complety I could share my screen for one day (the following days was the same issue and the orange dot disappears). But then I was facing the following challenge: Due to Corona restrictions, parts of my class have to follow my lectures online, while the rest of my class enjoys the lecture in the classroom. This means I would have to share my iPad screen to the classroom projector and to MSTeams at the same time.
However, this is not possible because iOS seems to prohibit the simultaneous use of "screen synchronization“ and „screen sharing via Teams“.

Can you please give some advise how to overcome these problems?

It’s been three weeks now . I’m struggling really badly . There’s no respite . There have been two updates to the application : 2.0.24 and 2.0.25 - and I’ve sent in at least five to seven complaints - even sent a tweet to Satya Nadella !
Looks like these guys are absolutely shameless . It’s made absolutely NO difference !
I’m at my wits’ end now . All other applications are working fine . My problem is that unfortunately my University is officially using Microsoft Teams . I have no other option . I don’t think I’ll ever forget this apathy ever .
Disgusting is the word !
Trillion dollar company - my arse !!

Same issue here. I can share my screen in Zoom or WebEx or Slack just fine. This is Teams-specific.

Experiencing the same problem since I updated to iPadOS 14☹️
I can’t broadcast my university classes when multitasking two windows, one showing the PDF with the engineering problem and the other with Matlab to perform the calculations. Now I have to switch between applications just to copy every new data 👎🏻
This problem afects many people in the academic community, particularly important these days that we have to offer online teaching due to the COVID pandemia. Hope this bug can be solved ASAP, we need that! 🙏🏻
Thanks!

There has been an update today - version 2.0.26 . The issue still persists . Do we need to shout into their ears now ?
I don’t understand this stupid company at all . These guys are beyond shame !
Is anyone even listening ?
Is there anyway we can rollback to version 2.0.22 . That was sluggish - but at least it worked !

Okay . I discovered the problem . The Teams Screen Sharing feature works only with Apple Devices that have a Home button , not with the later devices . Hope someone from Microsoft is reading this .

Thank you so much for finally acknowledging the issue after so long . I hope you guys find a solution to this soon . I’m really struggling with my lectures .

I discovered a way around this and made a presentation today .

Before sharing the screen , turn off the camera first so that the orange dot appears , then begin sharing the presentation . It works smoothly .
If you want to share the Whiteboard , do the same thing . First turn off the camera , then share the Whiteboard .
If you want to split the screen with the presentation on one side and the whiteboard on the other , the screen share option shuts down . The multitasking needs to be fixed on devices with no home button .

I think I wrote too soon . I’m back to square one . The Application is crashing again . I wonder what the real issue here is !
