Microsoft Teams Share Screen Failing With iOS 14 Multitasking

I am not able to share the iPad screen if I am using Multitasking. It fails and stops the screen share. Screen share works fine if only a single App layout is used on iPad. Is there a issues with the App?

I have updated to the latest version of Teams for my iPad pro. The problem still exists. Restart doesn’t help. Obviously this is a bug when we perform multitasking in iPad after updated to iOS 14. Please solve this bug ASAP. Thanks

The problem persists, and it is important that the Teams developer team understand the importance of solving it. Online classes cannot be taught smoothly without multitasking. In science and engineering classes, we cannot hide the PDF every time we have to perform a calculation!!

Please check - I think they seemed to have fixed the issue with the latest update Version 2.2.1 .
Could you validate this ?

Hi BalajiSReddie!
Yes, the problem seems to be finally solved!
I have tested with several applications in split window.
I have noticed that It needs both updates: Teams 2.2.1 and iPadOS 14.3 (it didn't work for me with iPadOS 14.2 and Teams 2.2.1).
We'll be able to easier communicate our classes from now on!
Thank you and Merry Christmas!!

Thanks, hopefully team will find the issue fast. I have been using two devices to log on to teams so that I can use one for attendance and other for screen sharing because of lack of multitasking since iPadOS 14 release. Hopefully, I can come back to one device as soon as this issue is fixed. Screen sharing while multi-tasking is a must have for conducting classes using iPad.

The latest update version 2.2 offers no respite . There’s a peculiar problem though . Yesterday Apple updated the iPadOS to 14.3 . Thereafter , the screen sharing worked - albeit only twice . After that the crashing began again . It’s weird .
I wonder if the others are facing the same problem too .

The new version of Microsoft Teams for iOS and iPadOS - version 2.1 released on 21st of November 2020 continues to carry the same problem .
The ‘Share Screen’ feature does not work on Apple devices (both iPhones and iPads) that do not have a home button . The older models , iPhone 8 and earlier , iPad Air , iPad Pro that have a Home Button do not face these problems .
Strange - but true .

Someone please look into this .

There has been an update today - version 2.0.26 . The issue still persists . Do we need to shout into their ears now ?
I don’t understand this stupid company at all . These guys are beyond shame !
Is anyone even listening ?
Is there anyway we can rollback to version 2.0.22 . That was sluggish - but at least it worked !

Okay . I discovered the problem . The Teams Screen Sharing feature works only with Apple Devices that have a Home button , not with the later devices . Hope someone from Microsoft is reading this .

Thank you so much for finally acknowledging the issue after so long . I hope you guys find a solution to this soon . I’m really struggling with my lectures .

I discovered a way around this and made a presentation today .

Before sharing the screen , turn off the camera first so that the orange dot appears , then begin sharing the presentation . It works smoothly .
If you want to share the Whiteboard , do the same thing . First turn off the camera , then share the Whiteboard .
If you want to split the screen with the presentation on one side and the whiteboard on the other , the screen share option shuts down . The multitasking needs to be fixed on devices with no home button .

I think I wrote too soon . I’m back to square one . The Application is crashing again . I wonder what the real issue here is !

Experiencing the same problem since I updated to iPadOS 14☹️
I can’t broadcast my university classes when multitasking two windows, one showing the PDF with the engineering problem and the other with Matlab to perform the calculations. Now I have to switch between applications just to copy every new data 👎🏻
This problem afects many people in the academic community, particularly important these days that we have to offer online teaching due to the COVID pandemia. Hope this bug can be solved ASAP, we need that! 🙏🏻
Thanks!

Same issue here. I can share my screen in Zoom or WebEx or Slack just fine. This is Teams-specific.

It’s been three weeks now . I’m struggling really badly . There’s no respite . There have been two updates to the application : 2.0.24 and 2.0.25 - and I’ve sent in at least five to seven complaints - even sent a tweet to Satya Nadella !
Looks like these guys are absolutely shameless . It’s made absolutely NO difference !
I’m at my wits’ end now . All other applications are working fine . My problem is that unfortunately my University is officially using Microsoft Teams . I have no other option . I don’t think I’ll ever forget this apathy ever .
Disgusting is the word !
Trillion dollar company - my arse !!

I have the same issue too. iOS 14.1 cannot share screen and work probably. The app would just quit. Zoom doesn’t have this problem.

Someone at Microsoft - This has happened since the update 2.0.23 on 8th of October 2020 . This is on the iPadOS 14.1 .

The instant I share the screen and go to the application in order to share my presentation , the application freezes , the orange dot disappears and I have to disable screen share in order to log into the Meeting again .

Please have mercy help me ! I’m not able to conduct my lectures .

I have sent in at least 5 complaints , and I’m appalled at your apathy towards your customers .

I have the same issue, too. Actually I‘m unable to use the iPad with iOS 14.1 in my lectures. Every time I share my screen with my students on MSTeams the orange dot disappears. I have to log in again. There is no issue with this on the MacBookAir.

A second issue:
After resetting my iPad complety I could share my screen for one day (the following days was the same issue and the orange dot disappears). But then I was facing the following challenge: Due to Corona restrictions, parts of my class have to follow my lectures online, while the rest of my class enjoys the lecture in the classroom. This means I would have to share my iPad screen to the classroom projector and to MSTeams at the same time.
However, this is not possible because iOS seems to prohibit the simultaneous use of "screen synchronization“ and „screen sharing via Teams“.

Can you please give some advise how to overcome these problems?

@JimmyYang-MSFT could you sove this issue or report to Microsoft to solve this bug immediately? More and more complaint will be coming! There is no issue before the update of iOS 14.
