    Hi @Chan, Johnny ,

By "require username/password" do you mean a website that requires login? Or do you mean monitoring a website with a specific username/password?
SCOM has the capability to monitor websites with specific usernames, you can achieve this by creating a Web Application Transaction Monitor.

If you want to monitor a website that requires you to log in to the website to check if the login works, then I'm afraid SCOM doesn't really offer any builtin capability for this, in this case I suggest using the URLGenie management pack which gives you the capability to achieve this.

@Chan, Johnny , To monitor a URL/website that requires user credential, we can configure the web application transaction monitor’s authentication setting and choose the authentication method used by the web application. We can see more details in the following link (The configuration can also be applied to SCOM 2016):
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/b51b6c2a-d7cc-4a75-bef8-01939812c694/scom-2012-how-to-create-a-web-application-monitor-for-an-application-requiring-authentication?forum=operationsmanagerauthoring

Also, we can import URLGenie MP to accomplish the request. Hope it can help.

    Hi @Chan, Johnny ,

if you insist on using a build in mechanism for that - go for the Web Application Transaction Monitoring, there you can set an authentication method, user account and define the rest of the related settings:

    Web Application Properties

or you can also use the URL Genie MP, like Crystal and Leon suggested.

I pesonally would recommend you to go for the management pack, it has much more sophisticated ways of configuring what you aim for.

Hope I was able to help.
