Connect Azure Devops to Azure Actice Directory

We are stuck connecting our Azure Devops to our Azure Active Directory.

In Azure Devops, it says 'You are not a member of any Azure Active Directories. Please request the Active Directory admin to add you as a member before proceeding to connect your Azure DevOps organization to an Azure Active Directory.' and in Azure Active Directory I can't add my user because 'User name already exists in this directory.' Because it's the same email but different identities (Personal account and work/school account)

Can you please provide steps on how to connect our Azure Devops to our Azure Active Directory.

Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Thanks.

So, I got it to work, so if anyone else cames across this - this worked for me:

Azure Active Directory
Invite a user (any email) to AAD that are not part of your domain - accept the invite. As and AAD administrator convert the account from guest to member using Powershell described here https://www.insidethemicrosoftcloud.com/convert-azure-ad-b2b-users-from-guest-to-member-how-and-why/

Azure Devops
Invite the same user (email) as above, after the user is converted from guest to member, and accept the invite. Add the user to Project Collection Administrator and now you should be able to Connect your Azure Devops to your Azure Active Directory

@Oskar-4441 You need to rename your personal account to use @outlook.com for example. Go to https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=842796 for this purpose.

Note: This change is irreversible. Once renamed, you will no longer be able to use the same email address as your personal account.

If its irreversible it's not an option, I use that account in other places.

Should I create a new user just for this purpose? Can you please verify that this is the right approach?

1) Invite a new user to Azure Devops 2) Accept the invite and create a personal account 3) Give that user correct permissions in Azure Devops to connect Azure Active Directory 4) Add that user as guest in azure active directory 5) Do I need to convert the account from guest to member in Azure Active Directory? 6) What permission does that user need to have in AAD?

Yes, you can use a new account. Other questions that you have are more of Azure DevOps questions than Azure AD. I have tagged DevOps team to assist on these questions.
