server 2016 Datacenter "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed."

My issue is that I've got a server 2016 Datacenter edition server that is part of a 2 node cluster. I have S2D configured on them and was in the process of running updates: kb4577015, kb4576750, and kb890830. They all installed fine on one server but after logging in on the other server via RDP I was greeted with "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed." Strangely remote management seems to work fine as does powershell remoting.

Everywhere I've looked the suggestions have been to remove it from the domain and rejoin it. The problem being that I have configured all this clustering and now do not want to have to take it down, remove it from the domain, rejoin it, and build all the clustering all over again. Not to mention if this happened while the server was actually in production.

I did find the following article:

https://appuals.com/fix-trust-relationship-workstation-primary-domain-failed/

Method 1 doesnt matter because the IP is static

Method 2 I'm trying to avoid

Method 3 I have tried but it seemed to do nothing

Methods 4/5 looks the same as 3 above

Method 6 I'm having a hard time understanding the implications of doing this

Method 7 Is worse than method 2 which again I'm trying to avoid

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Removing and re-adding the workstation to the domain does not impact the configuration of the cluster. The warning message refers to the workstation from which you are performing the operation, not to the cluster node.

I have seen this error occur due to a random network glitch between a workstation and the domain controller. Sometimes it clears itself. Other times it has required removing and re-adding the workstation to the domain.

after logging in on the other server via RDP I was greeted with "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed."

Do you mean we log in a management Server, then RDP to the Cluster nodes and get the error message?

If yes, it's recommended to re-add the Management Server to the domain, if we re-add the management server to the domain, it won't affect the cluster.

    Thanks for your time!
    Best Regards,
    Anne
