Hi,
I update to new edge chromium and now I can't open links to files on my local network from the browser.
file://"server"/path
I go back to EDGE and it work fine.
I try to disable popup and all other security options but it didn't help.
when I right click the link and click open in new tab I get "about:blank#blocked" in the address bar.
any ideas?
Thanks,
Shlomi

    Hi,

It's not an issue but a comman behavior of modern browsers that we can't link to file protocol from a page serving in http protocol for security reasons. I also find a post discussing about this. This behavior is by design.

The best practice is serving the file you want to open on local network with http protocol and link it with http protocol. Then you can open it without any issue.

I came here looking to see if someone had an answer because I can't seem to find an open dialogue for local files in Edge and instead I see one of the most unhelpful replies I think I've ever come across. Shame, shame, shame.

In MS Edge, right-click on the link and choose "copy link".

Open a new tab, right-click in the URL and choose "Paste and go to ......"

    Then it works.
