how can I remove yellow border line when screen capture?

I am building screen recording applications using Windows.Graphics.Capture namespace. Especially I am capturing monitors with the handle of HMONITOR.

When I run the applications, I see yellow border around the screen. I am wondering if there is any way to remove this. Looking at user side, it would help for them recognize app is recording, however, it's also annoying them.

Hello,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

> how can I remove yellow border line when screen capture?

No, this is by design. As you mentioned, you've already known that this border will let the customer know the app is recording. On the other hand, it will also let the customer know which part of their device is being recorded. The users should be aware of what and when and where the current app is recording.

Thank you.

I'm in IT and I find this feature ridiculous, even for security purposes. This feature does not indicate that an app is recording, (as your statement would indicate), only that an app MAY be recording - it shows up immediately once a window has been selected for recording purposes. This feature should be user controlled, even if you have to add password controls to it for security. A user shouldn't have to be subjected to this while recording their own screen anyway. One window with a yellow border is bad enough. Try adding a bunch of windows with yellow borders. Then where does that leave you? Especially since the borders aren't actually indicating that the windows are being recorded, only selected. So it's not even a good tracking system. It only serves its purpose when a hacker shows up, but not for normal every day use.

In short, good idea, bad implementation. This needs to be reworked.

Between the audio problems the 2004 update caused, the constant need to "reset" the photos app in order to use it, and now this hideous yellow window border, I am not a happy Windows user right now!

I got it. Thanks for clarification.

It's dumb, it should have been an optional feature. I KNOW what I select to be recorded, I don't need windows to tell me something I already know.

Microsoft does not own my computer I DO Microsoft has every right to implement this as a security feature but as the computer owner I SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO TURN IT OFF !! Anything else is not acceptable and this had better have a registry flag to disable it come the next update

I find this to be very offputting and unnecessary. Please add this as an optional feature rather than something mandatory the PC will perform regardless of our wishes. Maybe even add a whitelist function. it's very distracting and uncalled for, I did not ask for or need this feature. Please, do not add unavoidable features like this to windows. This causes the user to try and edit the registry unnecesarily.

I agree, there should be a whitelist where a specific program is ignored. Its very off-putting when trying to record or stream and very distracting to have a vibrant BORDER distracting me from what I'm actually trying to do

This is for programmers. You can modify your source code to use this screen capture API, and to have your app ask to hide the yellow border when it is capturing the screen.

I agree. The yellow border has been causing me issues for so long.. they dont ever go away, even when i try to disable @RoyLi-MSFT

This is such a bad design and implementation. I literally have 3 monitors and each monitor has a yellow border cause the SNIPPING TOOL KEEPS BUGGING OUT and I ALSO CANNOT GET SNIP & SKETCH.

Now im stuck tryin to work with a bright yellow border on EVERY SCREEN when nothing is going on, and its driving me insane - the only way to get rid of it is to reboot my pc every time i screenshot something..

Such trash design and implementation.

I just googled "permanently disable yellow border in windows" and got no results.

Make this happen.

I understand your feelings. But I still have to say that this is how the API is designed. Please submit your feedback in the Feedback hub so the team could notice this request.

I can't even see opened programs with this frame, the only reason I don't want is this. Sooooo weird design choice
