How to fix the dialog"A Bastion session should be initiated only from Azure Portal"?

So I initiate a bastion session from the Azure portal: from my VM page I click on connect > bastion, I fill in my credentials (I use a password from an Azure Key Vault), and click on connect. The option "Open in new browser tab" is checked.

The connection opens in a new tab and everything works just fine except that I have this annoying dialog telling me: "A Bastion session should be initiated only from Azure Portal. Please login to Azure Portal and start your session again.". If I close the dialog it also closes the tab, so I have to use the console with the dialog open. The best workaround I found is to open chrome dev tools and hide the dialog from there.

So how can I use Bastion without this annoying Dialog? Also, is Bastion really recommended? It has so many issues it feels like a dead service that should not be used anymore.

    Hi,

    I will suggest you to disable Chrome extensions or try incognito mode and also try to use Microsoft Edge when you initiate Bastion session, I had similar experience and I can understand it is very annoying not sure if there is a support ticket for this with Microsoft. But using Edge or Incognito mode helped me to overcome this error message.

    Hope this helps.

    @Francois MENTEC & @JimmySalian-2011

    I checked internally regarding this issue and found out that this issue can indeed be caused by a chrome extension. The issue I referred to was resolved after they disabled the Read&Write for Google Chrome extension.

    If you have this extension added to your Chrome browser, can you please try to disable it and see if that resolves the issue.

    Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Thank you!

    I hope this helps others - I found out today that I ran into this dialog while using Microsoft Edge. The answers here gave me the idea to try toggling different extensions I have installed. Turns out, the "React Developer Tools" extension, which I think is a very common tool, especially among developers, is the cause of this.

    Would be good if we could get some clarity from Microsoft on why this might be the case.
