Moving PC and User to Azure

When synchronizing a Domain user to Azure, I can join his PC to our Azure domain but when he logs in, he just gets an empty user profile???
Also, if creating a new AAD user who has a local profile on his PC, and joining his PC to Azure, there is no way to get his data, settings, browser settings etc. over???

USMT does not even recognize the AAD. Is this correct? Really??
C'mon Microsoft. You can do better than that!

What a mess :-/

I tried them too. I Ended up using USMTGUI from EhlerTech for this.

  • And thank you to Janine Marchese for pointing me in this direction

What i like is It's REALLY simple.

 Login to the Azure Account,
 start USMTGUI,
 select old user profile
 and click RUN.

Basically we unjoined the PC from AD, joined it to Azure AD, using the PC's Azure user, and ran USMTGUI.

Outlook /Exchange
In your case where your Azure Exchange settings are different than what you have on your Domain,
just uncheck "Full Migration" and uncheck migration of Outlook settings and files.
- When opening outlook it will login automatically if you set it up in Azure :-)

Some of the other programs may work fine but they are confusing and overly complicated, so perhaps I just did not do it right.

Everyone in support easily use USMTGUI just with the onepage guide I have prepared for them.

Thank you Bo

We have already run tests with the Corporate trail provided and also have gotten help for some changes, free of charge.
I have now asked for a trial of UPC, for approval at our IT-SEC, as it seems very suitable for our needs

Hi

Buy creating the Same user with Same User Name dose not sync the User Profile, Each User profile has it's own ID because of that when you login, it will create a new user profile. To fix this issue Microsoft has Partnered with Laplink to use their Profile Migration Software. Please find below link for your reference.

I have now tested Laplink and in some ways it seems to work. It is really fast

I do not know if our seetup is causing trouble, our exchange on Azure is NOT the same as our old domain one, but anyway Outlook cannot open after the migration!
Also logging on the Office 365 just hangs..

I have now tried other software called User Profile Wizard to do this same task, however it could not find our Azure domain

I have tried migrating a local user profile to a On Prem Domain profile but it looks like everything is linked to the local account username somehow,
even though I login with the domain account.

I think this is what must happen because when I want to delete the local profile, I get errors (and yes the domain account is local Admin!)
I then logged in as local Administrator and removed the local profile.
Afterwards, when logging in as the Domain user I get errors, referencing the local profile.

Anyway it did not allow me to move data to the Azure user on the Azure joined PC...

This is not easy
